We have established relationships with multiple partners in India, Pakistan and Egypt, from whom we import onions. We also import potatoes from Pakistan, China, Bangladesh and India. All our partners are the largest exporters in their respective markets. We pay attention to the highest quality when we import and food commodity and adhere to the right standards and food safety rules when we do so. Our transparency and integrity in our methods has enabled us to scale new heights of success in importing.

Big Onions

Big Onions can be found in almost all dishes in Sri Lanka. It’s crunchy flavour and spicy taste adds depth to all our recipes. Although the origins of onions are not known its uses has been dated back to 5000 BC. Currently most onions are sourced from India and Central Asia. We source high quality big onions, that complements our cuisines, from India, Pakistan, China, Holland, Turkey and Egypt. The bright red/brown outer skin of the onion makes it one of the brightest members of its family and has the sharpest taste. This makes it a favourite addition to all dishes.

Potatoes

Potatoes are a root vegetable that is part of the plant Solanum tuberosum. It is mostly used in Sri Lankan cuisine as an addition to curries or by itself as a potato curry. Potatoes were introduced to Europe from the Americas and is found as a staple in most households across the world. It is believed that potatoes are the fourth largest food crop in the world. We source and import quality potatoes from Pakistan, China, India, Bangladesh and Holland.

Small Onions (Sambar Onions)

In comparison small onions are milder in taste but has got a sharper crunch. It is a commonly used ingredient in most households especially in Southeast Asian cuisine. It’s widely used in curries and different types of sambar in India and Sri Lanka. There is a medicinal purpose to this tiny onion most Indians and Sri Lankan households use this as a home remedy for sore throats and colds.

Garlic

Garlic is a species of the onion family and is native to Central Asia. Most of the garlic supply in Sri Lanka comes from China. The uses of Garlic are widespread and its history of human consumption goes back to several thousand years. This small white bulbous plant is not only used as food flavouring but is also used in traditional medicine. Its health benefits are numerous such as treating colds, improves cholesterol levels, reduces blood pressure and also contains antioxidants properties that can be used to treat Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.

Rice

Rice and curry is a popular lunchtime favourite for most Sri Lankans across different cultures and communities. In some cultures, it’s served three times a day. It’s known as one of the oldest cereal grains and is said to have been grown for at least 5000 years. Going by its scientific name of Oryza sativa, these tiny grains come in mostly white but it’s healthier option brown rice is becoming quite popular in most households. Whilst white rice is made mostly out of carbs, brown rice contains a significant amount of fibre.

Mandarin

Mandarins is a popular fruit in Sri Lanka and can be identified as a small, loose skinned variety of the orange family. This fruit is packed with vitamin C and is often eaten alone, as part of a fruit salad or blended into a juice. It’s sweet flavor with citrusy undertones is a healthy refresher during hot seasons. We import these fruits from Pakistan and they go through a rigorous process to ensure its quality.
